Barcom Srl, established in the ceramics hub within the province of Reggio Emilia, specializes primarily in producing water purification and dust filtration systems tailored for the ceramic industry. Nonetheless, Barcom has expanded its offerings to encompass a multitude of applications spanning across different sectors. Their services now reach out to foundries, chemical companies, and premix manufacturers.
Barcom required a level sensor that met specific criteria:
In order to meet Barcom’s different needs, CAMLogic has proposed different level sensors for solids. These sensors are perfect for managing and accurately dosing powders and granules, including those at elevated temperatures. The first model, PFG05, is a rotary paddle level switch made of durable die-cast aluminum with G 2" ½ threaded process connection or flange. It operates at room temperature and is easy to install thanks to the sleeve on which it is screwed. The wide selection of helixes allows the level switch to detect materials with densities between 0.1 and 2.0 kg/dm3. The instrument can also be customized with special lengths and electrical accessories.
The second model is the PFG05AT, a small helix rotary level sensor that can be used on small containers, constructed of die-cast aluminum and stainless steel, with G 1" 1/2 (BSPP) threaded connection to the process or with a mounting flange. In the case of this company, male thread was required. Designed for high-temperature (max 200°C) and explosive atmospheres, it is also ideal for corrosive substances. Insulating material parts provide that heat inside the silo does not propagate to the instrument head where the electrical components are contained. The range of paddles allows the level sensor to detect materials with densities between 0.1 and 2.0 kg/dm3. The instrument can be customized.
Finally, the last is model PFG06, a capacitive level indicator based on the principle of sensing the electrical capacitance; with adjustable sensitivity according to the type of material processed. It’s made of aluminum and stainless steel. It can be applied with G 1" ½ process connection or with flange (tri-clamp). It is suitable for contact with food products. The capacitive level sensor can be customized. Barcom purchased this sensor to display tank filling in pneumatic powder conveying systems using compressed air. It has also been customized in the different voltages available, and often adapted with extensions of different lengths according to the size of the tank and the size of the level that needed to be checked.
The procurement of three sensors from CAMLogic by BARCOM company not only met the diverse operational needs but also prioritized safety compliance. Notably, CAMLogic's level sensors obtained certification for operation within potentially explosive environments, aligning with ATEX 2014/34/EU regulations. The enduring collaboration spanning decades and the extensive expertise exchanged between CAMLogic and BARCOM underline CAMLogic's commitment to comprehensively understanding and fulfilling specific requirements while ensuring top-notch reliability. This partnership stands as tangible proof of CAMLogic's attentive and customer-centric approach, emphasizing their dedication to meeting stringent safety standards and delivering reliable solutions tailored to BARCOM's unique operational contexts.
"ATEX certification is very important for our plants," explains Orsini of Barcom Srl, "and thanks to our decades-long collaboration with CAMLogic, we can guarantee reliable and safe control accessories at a good quality/price ratio. Even in the case of working in non-explosive environments. We have been working with CAMLogic for over 10 years and have never encountered any malfunctions or anomalies."
